Forest Fridays

Forest Fridays is a place-centered nature immersion program for children 5 to 8 years.

Each series is 6 Fridays

9AM-3PM

Spring 2024 dates to be announced.

$498 for series. Scholarships available.

During Forest Fridays, we grow our kinship with and knowledge of our forest. We play, tell stories, explore, take nature walks, journal, and create place-centered poetry, dances and crafts. Our days are co-created and often interest-led.

Emerald Heart is currently inviting  local elders and young adults to share their place-based naturalist skills and stories with us during Forest Fridays. Our intention is to grow multigenerational relationships with people and the place herself. The forest is our teacher.

Practicalities

Readiness

Each of our forest schoolers has met these milestones in order to feel comfortable and confident in our program:

  • Can express wants/needs with words--with other children and with adults.

  • Can be away from parent.

  • Can participate in our Forest Fridays day, including interacting with other children.

  • Will follow an adult's guidance.

  • Do not wander off.

Readiness is not limited to 5 to 8 age range. Someone might be ready at 4.5. Someone 9 years might feel comfortable and engaged. Please inquire if you have questions. We are happy to discuss.

Gear

Because we are outdoors in all weather, including rain, forest schoolers dress in appropriate gear.

Water & Food

Children bring their own snack, lunch and water. We have plenty of drinking water to refill bottles.
